Hello 👋 and welcome to the Talentdrop Newsletter!
WHO: As most of you know by now, I started this company last year with my cofounder Janelle, whom I know from the crazy old Snapchat days.
WHY: After 7 years of building high-performance teams in tech - from new YC grads that needed their first engineer to Uber - I’ve seen the world of people operations evolving rapidly. I now want to play a part in driving the right changes. Nobody puts B̶a̶b̶y̶ an opinionated recruiter in a corner!
WHAT: Oh, you’re not Google? Good. We help small companies that don’t have robust People teams or processes manage talent successfully. We do this with a combination of our time and software for the entire people process - from sourcing, interviewing and hiring, to onboarding, managing, and paying fairly. (We don’t do benefits or immigration, but can help refer you around.)
We’re building a world in which the talent function operates holistically and equitably - without the unnecessary barriers between recruiting, HR, compensation, and analytics, and with more data, less guessing (it’s okay, we all do it). Ask us about or give us your opinion on any of these areas, whether you’re a people professional or not. The opinions can be strong and the questions can seem stupid - we like these.
YOU: You share our curiosity about how work decisions get made and our desire to see the field progress. You might be a user, a customer, a talent professional, a recreational talent geek, a design partner, a product tinkerer, a people manager, a dreamer, or simply someone whose insight we value. But above all, you’re our fans and we’re yours.
That being said, no one needs another email that’s either not useful or boring, especially at the end of 2020. If you subscribe, I will try to avoid both fates. But if I fall short for you, no hard feelings if you unsubscribe.
NEXT: My goal with these posts is to add value to your lives in some (fast) way. This may come in the form of industry updates, talent tips & tricks, new ideas to explore, old ideas to lay to rest, opinion polls, requests for feedback, product and company updates, guest features, introductions and networking stuff, or something else Future Maddy concocts.
ASK: This is my first post. Please let me know if you have any burning questions or topic areas you’d like explored next, or any other suggestions (like structure or formats you like). Thank you for your attention and support!
Congrats, Maddy! Excited for these posts and to be part of this community!
Awesome to see this and can't wait to see more from Talentdrop! 🥳
